Green Cinderella Guidelines
While the need for affordable housing remains a top priority for New York City and many surrounding counties, the management of energy and other natural resources must also be addressed. The Green Cinderella Program is intended to raise awareness and to spark interest in the development of building technologies utilizing “green” components.
Minimum Qualifying Criteria:
  • Project must incorporate natural gas technologies.
  • Project must be located within National Grid's service territory.
  • The developer must have an acceptable environmental compliance history.
  • Projects must incorporate environmentally-friendly design/building concepts in accordance with the U.S. Green Buildings Council’s Leadership in Environmental Design (LEEDS) rating standards *.
  • Project developer must show a significant level of financial commitment. A minimum investment would be a 3:1 ratio for the green component in the project.
  • Ability to promote or encourage the use of green building development in the community.
  • Project should be completed within one year period from the date the application is approved.

    Grant Awards Schedule:
    • Application submission is ongoing and can be submitted throughout the year
    • Grant awards will be selected on a quarterly basis (March, June, September and December).
    • Projects must be completed prior to the award being issued.
