Community Involvement
National Grid has a strong commitment to the communities we serve. We support programs designed to help improve the way people live, work and play. Our funding is available across our service territories to organizations meeting our established guidelines.

National Grid is proud to invest in programs that meet our focus areas of education, energy and environment.  We're currently involved in many community-based projects and partnerships.  Learn about these initiatives and how you can participate.
“Engineering our future” is National Grid’s signature program which sets a plan  on how we will invest in a long term strategy to positively affect the attitudes of young people, their parents and teachers toward a career choice of engineering.

We know there are fewer engineers, and we know that increasing the engineering workforce is an imperative, not only for National Grid but also for the United States’ economy. So why is this critical sector in decline? The white paper, "Engineering Our Future: Inspiring and Attracting Tomorrow’s Engineers," details the problem and National Grid’s approach to solving it.
For almost 40 years, we have led an intense program of community development and support that has received widespread attention.
We provide energy-related science, safety and environmental learning materials for students in grades K-8. Teachers can order classroom quantities. Students and parents can order literature to assist with homework and science projects—all free.

We also offer an interactive website for kids.  Visit Energy Explorer* for interactive games, experiments and stories.
The National Grid Foundation was created as an outgrowth of our passion for stewardship. Since its inception in 1998, the Foundation has provided nearly $12 million in grants to hundreds of nonprofit organizations across National Grid’s service territory.
