Become an approved supplier

There are four steps to become an approved energy supplier / broker:

The ESCO is required to obtain approval from the Massachusetts Department of Telecommunications and Energy.

Once approved by the Regulator the Supplier will appear on the Regulator's website and the Supplier sends the Supplier Services Analyst a notification letter of approval.

The Supplier Services Analyst sends the ESCO a Supplier Services Application, a Gas Supplier Service Agreement , Contact List and provide pipeline on which supplier must be an approved bidder. The ESCO faxes and mails the originals of these documents to: National Grid, Supplier Services, 175 East Old Country Road, Hicksville, NY 11801 Attention: Sergio Smilley.

Once completed, signed and returned to the Supplier Services Analyst, the Analyst ensures that the agreement is fully executed by National Grid and these documents and all supporting documentation are forwarded to the Record Center for scanning.

Currently, there are no Billing Service Agreements in New England so all ESCOs must meet creditworthiness standards. If the standards are not met then a security deposit is calculated. For New England (KEDNE), the standard and method of calculation are specified by item 24.3 of the "Distribution Service Terms and Conditions" of the MDTE No. 4 Tariff.
